About Saving Algenaina

SAVE ALGENEINA INITIATIVE is a national non-profit voluntary Initiative that was born after the events of the war in June 2023 to help families who were forcibly removed from their homes to the Chadian border region of Adré. We operate in Chad and across Sudan, including Sennar, Khartoum, Al-Jazeera, and North Darfur states.

Healthcare Initiatives

Field Clinics

Field Clinics (Since August 2023)

Operating medical field clinics in Adre, Chad, providing comprehensive healthcare services including:

  • Emergency medical care
  • General medicine consultations
  • Laboratory services
  • OB/GYN and maternal health services
  • Pediatric care
  • Chronic disease management

Impact: Serving over 150,000 Sudanese refugees from Al Geneina with essential healthcare services.

Nutrition Programs

Hot Meal Project

Hot Meal Project (Since March 2024)

Providing daily nutritious meals to vulnerable populations in refugee camps:

  • 1,000 meals served daily to children
  • Rotating menu featuring culturally appropriate foods
  • Special focus on nutritional needs of children under 5
  • Monthly nutrition assessments

Impact: Over 60,000 meals served to date, significantly reducing malnutrition rates among children in the camps.

Women's Empowerment

Hawwa Women Initiatives

Hawwa Women Initiatives (Since April 2024)

Comprehensive program supporting refugee women through:

  • Vocational training workshops
  • Hygiene and dignity kit distributions
  • Women's health education
  • Gender-based violence prevention programs
  • Leadership development

Impact: 400+ women empowered with skills and resources to support their families and communities.

Child Protection & Education

Child-Friendly Spaces

Child-Friendly Spaces (Ongoing)

Creating safe environments for children's development and learning:

  • Structured recreational activities
  • Psychosocial support
  • Basic literacy and numeracy classes
  • Life skills education
  • Play therapy sessions

Impact: Providing normalcy and healing for over 2,000 children affected by conflict.

Seasonal Support

Winterization Program

Winterization Program (Seasonal)

Protecting vulnerable families from harsh winter conditions:

  • Winter clothing distribution
  • Blankets and sleeping bags
  • Heating supplies
  • Shelter reinforcement

Impact: Provided winter essentials to 545+ households, protecting them from extreme cold.

Eid Al-Adha Project 2024

Eid Al-Adha Project

Qurbani Meat Distribution (June 2024)

Annual Qurbani project providing meat to vulnerable families during Eid Al-Adha:

  • 40 calves slaughtered during the four days of Eid
  • 240 bags of meat prepared (2kg each) on the first day
  • 187 families received meat packages on the second day
  • Total of 3,600 kilograms of meat distributed
  • 1,500+ families benefited from the project

Impact: Brought joy and nutrition to 1,500+ families during the blessed days of Eid Al-Adha, ensuring they could celebrate the occasion with dignity and happiness.

Trauma/GBV Center

Trauma/GBV Center

Healing and Support Center (6-Month Project)

Comprehensive trauma and gender-based violence support center in Adre refugee camp, Chad, serving 40,000 refugees with a focus on women and children (70% of beneficiaries):

  • Individual and group therapy sessions for trauma survivors
  • Workshops on self-care and coping mechanisms
  • Safe spaces for women and children
  • Skills training and educational activities
  • Community building and support groups

Impact: Providing critical mental health support and safe spaces for healing to thousands of war survivors, with a special focus on vulnerable women and children, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Sports for Hope Initiative

Sports for Hope Initiative

Transforming Lives Through Sports (Ongoing)

Comprehensive sports program fostering hope, well-being, and normalcy for displaced communities through organized sports activities and infrastructure development:

Our Impact:
  • Established sports games and tournaments in the refugee camp
  • Provided sports outfits and equipment to participants
  • Built a dedicated sports field for recreation and community gathering
  • Implemented incentive programs to recognize achievement and participation
